Wedding

Part 1 - Bianca & Arthur {Kronenburg Wedding}

How did you meet?
We met the 29th of February 2008 while going out with friends. We “clicked” while having A LOT of good laughs and stayed up until the next morning talking and getting to know each other. We then went for our first date a week later after playing “hard-to-get” with one another.

We have had do many adventures together and we are best of friends. Can’t wait for the rest of our lives!

Engagement…
We got engaged the 24th of September 2011 while we were on a weekend away in Knysna (one of our favourite holiday spots). We went for a boat ride and he rushed to Brenton on the Sea for us to see the sunset. I should have known something was up, but me being me didn’t even notice Arthur being so nervous. I was playing in the sand and being silly when he said lets write in the sand…I wrote some dorky love comment (hehe) and when I turned around he was on his knee in front of this huge sign written in the sand “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”, I was in so much shock while he was saying all these wonderful things to me and then when he opened the ring box and asked if I will marry him, I started crying and shouted YES YES YES! That was one of the best memories of my life. Still get butterflies thinking about it!

Tell us more about your wedding. Where did you find inspiration? Which elements were the most important to you?

We got married the 16th of March 2013 at Kronenburg, Paarl. I woke up at 5am with this amazing feeling in my heart.
Our wedding day was the most perfect day ever. Celebrating with our family and friends, seeing my vision of the mint green, soft gold and crystals come together was mind blowing. I remember everything about that day, Arthur’s face while I was walking down the aisle, our parents’ tears of happiness, friends laughter while saying congratulations…everything PERFECT. My best part was saying “I DO” and then of course our Kiss. ;-)
One of our fondest memories was when a group of our friends started doing a “flash mob” for us, we were so surprised and in awe of these wonderful people in our lives.
Some of the elements that made our wedding day amazing was our wonderful church service, friends making music at pre-drinks, our first dance while sparklers were sparkling, the “Flash mob” and then the symbolic meaning when we lit the flying lantern to let go of our past and started with our future.

What advice do you have for future brides?
My advice is something all my friends and my sister who is already married told me…Take everything as it comes on your wedding day, Stop and take every little thing in. See the laughter and the tears, Admire your new husband and just enjoy the day.

The other advice is for the Grooms to be… HELP YOUR BRIDES TO BE. :)
I know that without Arthur running around and helping me choose everything, I would have gone insane! (haha)
Even if you just give your fiancé support and be there when things go haywire, it means a lot and will put so much more meaning into the day as “OUR” day and not just “MY” day.

Most memorable moment of your wedding.
I had 4…
When Arthur took my hand as we met at the end of the aisle and his big grin while holding back the tears
My mom and sisters faces when I finally had my wedding dress on.
When my dad and I was standing in the foyer of the church and he held on to me so tightly
And then the “Flash mob” that was a combination of 2 things I love most: MUSIC and Glee!(Hehe)

Special moment between dad & daughter.

Image from Lisa & Duncan’s engagement photo shoot at the Taal Monument, Cape Town.

I am back in the office today after a wonderful holiday with my family & friends. To be honest, I might still be sitting on the beach with my feet in the sand, in my mind, but I am glued to my chair in my office. Answering emails and editing, with my desk fan blowing in my hair. (Which is also just as good.)

This week’s Pick of the week sums up all that I wish for you for 2013. May all your hopes and dreams come true & may love find you in unexpected ways. Here’s to a new year filled with new opportunities & adventures. Cheers!

Have a beautiful week. x

Chantel & Rigard - 17 March 2012

Chantel & Rigard’s wedding was flawless. A beautiful day, Lagoon Beach Hotel the setting, Table Mountain the backdrop & a gorgeous couple surrounded by family and friends. Perfect.

Chantel’s Cindy Bam wedding gown fit her perfectly, like a vintage lace glove. Their wedding was filled with emotions, I too had a few “teary moments” behind the camera. Ek was meegevoer in elke oomblik.

The wedding was infused with Greek tradition and created the foundation for an incredible party. Breaking plates is definitely a way to start a party. ;)

Chantel & Rigard, baie dankie vir ‘n onvergeetlike dag.

Baie dankie, Willem dat jy so ‘n groot aanwins was in my arsenaal as fotograaf. Ek is bly jy is terug en dat ons weer ‘n span is.

Natasha & Willem - 10 Maart 2012

Natasha & Willem se troue was so mooi gewees.

Natasha, jy was ‘n pragtige bruid.

“Tonight we are young, so I set the world on fire, we burn brighter than the sun.”

Natasha & Willem, baie dankie dat ek julle troudag kon afneem, dit was ‘n eer. Ek wens vir julle ‘n geseënde huwelik.

PS: Ek wil net graag dankie sê vir Andre Campher wat ‘n uitstekende assistent was.

Debrah & Jean-Paul - 3 December 2011

December always brings the “holiday” feeling, a time for being carefree and seeing family and friends. Nic & I, were lucky to share in Debbie & JP’s wedding day and experience all these emotions and more.

Seeing two best friends getting married, having the view of our beautiful Bloubergstrand and just having fun in the sun. Good times.

I met Debbie’s parents in 2010. Alta and Richard are serious photography lovers and we shared many stories about being in the darkroom and developing your own photos. Richard even came down the isle with Debbie on his arm and his camera around his neck. ;)

A lot of planning and special touches went into this wedding, Alta spent three months creating one of the most delicate and stunning wedding cakes I have ever seen.

Debbie made a gorgeous bride, she glowed with love and happiness and I think it came from the fact that she married her best friend, JP.

Debbie & JP, congratulations, I wish you a happy and prosperous marriage. Your love for each other are evident and I enjoyed getting to know you over the past year.

Nic, thank you for your excellent support and images.

Abigail & Craig - 8 October 2011

Baie dankie dat julle so geduldig was met my terwyl ek aandag aan my eie troue moes gee. Ek waardeer dit opreg baie.

Marselle & Jarcu - 17 September 2011

As inspirasie om dié blogpost te skryf het ek weer na Jefferson Starship se We built this City geluister, terwyl ek skryf. Hoekom? Want Marselle & Jarcu se troue was my eerste een vir die nuwe trou seisoen en alles waarvan ek kon droom as ‘n troufotograaf was deel van hulle troue. ‘n Oulike paartjie, ‘n great groep jong mense, mooi weer, groen & geel canola velde en baie tyd.
