Louis & Alicia {Groenvlei Wedding}

Louis & Alicia’s wedding ceremony was held underneath a big tree overlooking wine farms, the perfect location to take your vows in front of your family and friends.

I have known Louis for many years and when I met his fiancé, Alicia, I could see that he found is perfect match and best friend. Getting to know Alicia throughout our meetings, I became even more excited to shoot their wedding, because I knew it would be a stunning day, filled with laughter and special moments…I was right. ;)

Louis & Alicia, congratulations!!! May your marriage be blessed with love, adventures & many more special moments. Thank you for having Nic and myself at your wedding.

How did you meet?
We met through mutual friends.

Engagement…
We went to Yzerfontein for the weekend, with a few of our best friends. All our friends knew that he was going to propose, and everyone tried really hard to keep it a secret but I had my suspicions. A bit later the one afternoon, he insisted that we go for a walk on the beach (he didn’t even allow me to finish my coffee first, which is when I realized that something was about to happen). He then took me to a picnic spot that he had set up on the beach, and he had all my favourite snacks, sparkling wine, a picnic blanket, and whole lot of hearts drawn in the sand. Just after we sat down, he poured some sparkling wine, took the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him!

Tell us more about your wedding. Where did you find inspiration? Which elements were the most important to you?
We had a few non-negotiable items when we started looking at venues. We were specifically looking for venues where we could get married outside, and also venues which had accommodation on the premises (or very close by). I cannot remember how many venues we went to look at, but it was a lot! I decided on a “blue-and-blush” theme, and loved the idea of rose gold to add a bit of warmth. It helped a lot that the venue itself was already beautiful, and we did not need to do much more to add our own touch. While you’re busy with the planning, it’s difficult to see the whole picture – but I was extremely happy with how everything came together in the end.

What advice do you have for future brides?
Enjoy every moment of the planning process, as your actual wedding day will fly by in a wink. Make sure you choose your service providers well. I am so happy with each person/ service provider that was involved in our wedding, and I did not need to worry about any of them not doing what they were supposed to. Lastly, remember what the day is about, and just enjoy every moment – even if everything doesn’t go according to plan.

Most memorable moment of your wedding.
There were so many special moments, that it’s difficult to just mention one. I can still vividly recall how I felt when I walked down the isle – something between overwhelming excitement and happiness. The ceremony was beautiful, and I’ll never forget that. Our entry as a married couple, our first dance, and our speeches for each other – these are all etched into my memory. Our guests made us feel so special; the dance floor was never empty, and everybody had an amazing time. We could not have wished for more!

Sneak Preview - Sharon & Chris {Wedding}

Yesterday I had the honour of shooting a very special wedding.

Meerendal was the perfect setting for a beautiful wedding on a Friday afternoon. The occassion was shared with close family and friends. What made this wedding extra special to me was that it was my third for the Olivier family. Natasha and Bianca’s parents, Chris and Sharon got married.

Thank you, Chris and Sharon, for having me at your daughters’ weddings and now yours. I have enjoyed being part of all these momentous occasions of your lives and to see every beautiful next step. May you have a blessed and wonderful marriage.

Ek kry nogsteeds hoendervleis as ek terug dink aan laas Saterdag se troue. Dit was so ‘n mooi dag, windstil in die Paarl.

Ek het dié voorreg gehad om ‘n pragtige bruid se troubeloftes aan haar boerseun af te neem. Sal later nog meer van die dag vertel.

Baie geluk, Corne & Werner!!!
